While most of Brixton transmogrifies into brioche bun hipster hell, The Effra Hall Tavern remains one of the very last boozers that retains anything of the old school vibes that made Brixton so famous.
The pub hosts live jazz sessions every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and entry is always free.
Here’s some photos taken from Thursday night’s lively session.
Regulars of the Sunday night reggae/jazz live sessions at the Club 414 will recognise some familiar faces in the band!
The only downside of the Effra Hall Tavern nights is that they close at midnight: happily, those minded to keep on going can repair to the nearby Prince of Wales, where there’s live jazz until 3am (also free admission).
