Brixton’s Effra Hall Tavern celebrates fifteen years of live Jazz with SoFF (Sistahs of the Fuller Figure) hosting a black tie Jazz jamm on Sunday 13th April.
The popular free live jazz nights at the much loved ‘Effra’ pub on Kellet Road have been run by SoFF and its singing host Lauren Dalrymple (above) since they began in the Spring of 1999 and seen Jazz admiring locals enjoy free jams on Sunday evenings since.
Acknowledging the anniversary and Lauren’s accomplishments in the Jazz world, assistant editor of Herne Hill based Jazzwise Mike Flynn said,
“I’ve been in Brixton for ten years now and this jam was the way I got my foot into the London jazz scene – I’m a bassist and it really opened a lot of doors for me.”
The fact that the same weekly live music night can survive fifteen years anywhere is a testament to everyone who plays attends and organises the Jazz jams at The Effra and we wish Lauren and SoFF a very happy fifteenth anniversary!

The anniversary jam kicks off around 8:45pm at The Effra Hall Tavern on Sunday 13th April. Entry is free and don’t forget to wear a black tie!
